Author Self-Archiving Policy

The Medical Technology Journal of Applied Science (MTJAS) Author Self-Archiving Policy

1. Purpose

The Medical Technology Journal of Applied Science (MTJAS) supports the broad dissemination of scholarly work and encourages authors to share their research. This policy clarifies authors' rights and responsibilities regarding the self-archiving of different versions of their manuscript at each stage of the publication process.

2. Definitions

To ensure clarity, this policy uses the following definitions for manuscript versions:

  • Pre-print: The initial manuscript draft submitted to a journal, prior to any peer review.

  • Post-print (or Accepted Manuscript): The version of the manuscript that has been peer-reviewed, revised, and accepted for publication, but has not yet been professionally copyedited, formatted, or typeset by the journal.

  • Published Version (or Version of Record): The final, professionally typeset, and formatted article as it appears on the MTJAS website. This is the official version of the publication.

3. Self-Archiving Permissions

Authors who publish with MTJAS have the right to self-archive their work according to the following guidelines:

  • Pre-print: Authors are permitted to post their pre-print on personal websites, institutional repositories, or pre-print servers (e.g., medRxiv, arXiv) at any time, including before or during the submission process to MTJAS. This will not be considered a duplicate publication.

  • Post-print (Accepted Manuscript): Upon acceptance of the manuscript, authors may immediately archive the post-print version. This version can be deposited in personal websites, institutional repositories, or subject-specific archives.

  • Published Version (Version of Record): Because MTJAS publishes all articles under a Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International (CC BY 4.0) license, authors may immediately archive the final published PDF version of their article in any repository without any embargo period.

4. Mandatory Attribution

Regardless of which version is self-archived, authors must always include a link to the final published article on the MTJAS website. This ensures proper credit and allows readers to access the official, citable version of record. The recommended citation format is:

  • "This is an accepted manuscript of an article published in The Medical Technology Journal of Applied Science."

  • "The final published version of this article is available at: [insert URL to final article]"
