Authorship Policy

1. Principles of Authorship

The Medical Technology Journal of Applied Science (MTJAS) upholds the principle that authorship credit should be based on a significant intellectual contribution to the work. All individuals designated as authors must meet the criteria outlined below, and all who meet these criteria should be listed as authors. The policy aims to ensure that proper credit is given and that all authors share responsibility for the integrity of the published work.

2. Criteria for Authorship

To be listed as an author, an individual must meet all four of the following criteria, based on the guidelines of the International Committee of Medical Journal Editors (ICMJE):

  1. Substantial Contribution: The individual must have made a substantial contribution to the conception or design of the work; or the acquisition, analysis, or interpretation of data for the work.

  2. Drafting and Revision: The individual must have been involved in drafting the work or revising it critically for important intellectual content.

  3. Final Approval: The individual must provide final approval of the version to be published.

  4. Accountability: The individual must agree to be accountable for all aspects of the work, ensuring that questions related to the accuracy or integrity of any part of the work are appropriately investigated and resolved.

3. Role of Contributors

Individuals who have contributed to the work but do not meet all four criteria for authorship should be acknowledged in the "Acknowledgments" section of the manuscript. This includes, but is not limited to, individuals who provided:

  • Technical support or writing assistance.

  • General supervision of a research group.

  • Administrative support.

  • Funding acquisition.

4. Author Order

The order of authors on the manuscript should be a joint decision of all contributing authors. The authors should discuss and agree on the order, which should be based on the relative contributions of each individual to the research. This agreement should be finalized before the manuscript is submitted.

5. Corresponding Author

The corresponding author is responsible for all communication with the journal and for managing the manuscript throughout the submission, review, and publication process. The corresponding author is also responsible for ensuring that all co-authors have approved the final version of the manuscript and have agreed to its submission to MTJAS.

6. Changes to Authorship

Any request to add, remove, or re-order authors after the initial submission must be made in writing to the Editor-in-Chief. This request must include:

  • A written explanation for the change.

  • A letter of agreement signed by all original authors and any new authors being added.

The Editor-in-Chief will review such requests and may approve or deny them based on the circumstances. No changes to authorship will be permitted after the manuscript has been accepted for publication.
